Delete Metadata

Sometimes, when you add a media file to Plex, it displays something other than the title, even though it's matched correctly. Turns out, Plex will display metadata tags the encoder put in the media file over it's own title matching.

The only way to remove it is to re-mux it with a flag, like so

sudo avconv -i someVideoTagged.mp4 -map_metadata -1 -codec copy someVideo.mp4

You can see this by looking at it like so

avprobe test.mp4

Metadata:
    major_brand     : isom
    minor_version   : 512
    compatible_brands: isomiso2avc1mp41
    title           : SOME JUNK HERE
    encoder         : Lavf55.55.100
comment         : SOME JUNK HERE TOO

Then re-mux it and:

avprobe version 9.18-6:9.18-0ubuntu0.14.04.1+fdkaac, Copyright (c) 2007-2014 the Libav developers
  built on Apr 10 2015 23:18:58 with gcc 4.8 (Ubuntu 4.8.2-19ubuntu1)
Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from 'test.mp4':
  Metadata:
    major_brand     : isom
    minor_version   : 512
    compatible_brands: isomiso2avc1mp41
    encoder         : Lavf54.20.4
