import

Occasionally, you have to set the server max packet size to match your export. Specifying it at the mysql client is not enough. In the file ~~/etc/my.cnf~~
{code:none}
# Example MySQL config file for medium systems.
...
...
# The MySQL server
[mysqld]
...
...
max_allowed_packet = 100M
...
...

{code}

The import statement looks like this

{code:none}
mysql -D confluence --max_allowed_packet=100M < confluence.sql
{code}

If your dump is of a database (as opposed to --all_databases) then you will want to create the database prior to importing, as the dump doesn't contain the DB creation commands.
